Welcome to Food For Morgan County

Partnerships

The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri

The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri is a regional disaster and hunger relief network that acquires and distributes millions of pounds of food annually to partner agencies across a 32-county area.

A member of Feeding America, The Food Bank is able to work with manufacturers, wholesalers, processors, growers, retailers and restaurants to secure donations and food at reduced costs. Because of these partnerships, we are able to turn every dollar into $21 worth of groceries.

The Food Bank works with 140 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other agencies to ensure food gets into the hands of those who need it most. We are the only food bank in the state to provide that food at no charge to other organizations.

Healthy Schools Healthy Communities

Healthy Schools, Healthy Communities is an initiative from Missouri Foundation for Health to reduce childhood obesity 5% in the next 5 years.

From introducing healthier foods and more opportunities for physical activity in schools, to improving parks and sidewalks, to building new bike trails — communities are making changes to schools and local environments that will have lasting impact. And HSHC is providing the knowledge, tools, and support to help make it possible.

With input from the school districts, HSHC engages community organizations to form partnerships and develop action plans that address barriers to healthy eating and active living for children in targeted communities. Community representatives work closely with school district wellness coordinators in order to ensure effort alignment, steady progress, and ongoing communication.

These community efforts have a local and/or organizational policy focus, engaging school administrators as well as local and state legislators in order to enforce policies and regulations that are likely to facilitate and sustain improved physical activity and healthy eating environments.

Morgan County Health Department

It is our goal to make sure you feel your best and stay that way. You can count on our many years of experience, our highly trained team of health care professionals, and exquisite professional service

Here are some of the reasons that set us apart:

  • Public Health Services
  • Health Education Programs
  • Referral Services
  • WIC

Often people confuse public health with healthcare for the poor.  Public health is mostly about those activities and programs that deal with a community or population rather than a particular individual.  Public health is most often about preventing or reducing the seriousness of illness and injury.  The outcomes benefit individuals but the focus is on communities and populations.

Give 'Em the Bird

GIVE EM THE BIRD 5K RUN is going on its eighth year and has continued to grow every year.  The purpose of this race is to raise money to help the local food pantry help families in need for Thanksgiving.  It was started with an idea of giving back to the community but has also sparked friendly competition with the goal of improving fitness and long lasting health.  We look forward to a huge turnout each year with people traveling from all across the state to take part in this event.
